UNTITLED CLICHE

Artery Art Space proudly presents an exhibition by Lindslee entitled “Cliché Untitled”, an installation of painter’s forms related to the question of painting’s value today – a thing of beauty, a vessel for reflection, a tool for expression, a symbol of cultural position, or as an agency of commercial exchange, made apparent through a clever array of the medium’s engaging process of simultaneous invention and critique. Viscerally oriented to provoke thought and visual arrest, Lindslee will present an installation of paintings, sculptural objects and found materials, all marked and distressed to picture the anxiety of art in an age of commodification.

The exhibition is about questioning intentions. Is there really a borderline between art and non-art? Or does it really matter. Most of the pieces for the show is an experimentation in that aspect. I tried to make it lighter so the viewers may understand it immediately what the artworld is all about.

Lindslee is widely known for his abstract paintings infused with a pop and conceptual basis that borders on institutional critique and postmodern eclecticism. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, and also studied at The Art Students League of New York, USA. Since 2000, Lindslee has exhibited extensively with both solo and group shows locally and abroad, that includes Galleria Duemila, Hiraya Gallery, West Gallery, The Drawing Room, Blanc Gallery, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (Manila), Taksu Gallery (Singapore), Hohmura Gallery (Japan), and recently at Art Center Ongoing (Japan).
